Immediately following the ice cream social afternoon you are
welcome to bring a dish to share and enjoy several Vietnamese treatments of
free range chickens prepared by Kim McCarty of Kim's Vietnamese Restaurant of
Longmont. The chickens we'll be serving were raised at the farm! There will be
frozen USDA approved chickens available for sale to take home with you.
Help us celebrate and share our gratitude! This dinner marks
the first year of Fox Friendly Farms free range chickens raising and
selling. What began as an experiment in raising her own healthy meat Barbara
now provides natural chickens for a larger community. Deeply engaged in all the
life at the farm she enjoys observing and responding to the needs of her
animals and marveling at the intricacies of their relationships. This
engagement in the land and all those that live there has inspired her writing
and art made in her home studio.
The sale of these USDA approved frozen chickens helps to
sustain the farm and provide opportunities for growth. In the first year Fox
Friendly Farm has grown to support 100 chickens per month. These are available
for sale at the farm or at certain meeting spots in Longmont, Ft Collins and
Greeley by appointment. This relatively small number of chickens allows Barbara
to be in relationship with each chicken, turkey, duck and goose, living under
the watchful eyes of llama and dog, Bently.
Wear comfortable shoes and bring insect repellant and
sunscreen. There are bees on the property. In three years, however, there has
never been a stinging incident. They swarm happily and dutifully above the
heads of the rest of us.
Limited seating is available so please RSVP andyou may
preorder chickens for pick-up at the farm or for our next delivery.
