I completed my first polar bear/animal companion portrait in 2009. Since then I’ve illustrated the family stories of mixed breeds dogs, Basset Hounds, Bernese Mountain Dog, Irish Wolfhounds, Chihuahua, Chow, English Bull Dog, Huskie, Doberman Pincher, Black Lab, Great Danes, Labra doodle, Pugs, Great Pyrenees, West highland Terriers, Border Collies, horses and many cats. Polar bears become the human characters in each drawing. Unique settings, favorite seasons, and the details of favorite memories coalesce to picture the atmosphere of the animal/human home and the fullness of their relationship.
Each commissioned art piece begins with a phone or in-person interview and the collection of photographs. Once we have discussed the basic elements of the design; predominant colors, personal symbols, etc., we determine the size. The finished unframed original drawing/painting is usually between 11” X 16” and 22” X 30.” Our written agreement will discuss completion dates and a payment plan for the total price of $1800.
